I do love a candle, especially an expensive one.
So what is it about them………?
First of all, they look great – is it the box or that little, thoughtful disc that seals the cellophane outer wrap? Or the cushioned cardboard lining that protects the beautiful glass with its scented wax? Seriously, tell me, what is there not to love about expensive candles? And they last for at least 50 hours, which is ages! A candle that has been well made, using excellent ingredients and only the best perfumed oils is such a delight and the smell they exude is so divine that I don’t mind paying that bit more for such quality. You can keep those nasty supermarket candles – the smells are overpoweringly cheap and synthetic (that’s just my opinion, of course!)
My favourite is a small range of hand-crafted candles from a brand called Jovoy. They’re based out of Paris and there is an exquisite boutique on the rue de Castiglione where the candles are displayed in the most amazing red boxes; and they come with a clear glass bell too to protect them when you don’t have them lit. Perfect.
So don’t wait for someone to buy one as a gift. Treat yourself. Why not?
